Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové started its educational activities on November 1945 as the first univerity faculty in East Bohemia. Originally a branch of Charles University’s First Faculty of Medicine in Prague, it developed its own department structure and a highly qualified teaching staff. For more than 50 years, Faculty of Medicine at Hradec Králové has been among the top Czech university institutions. The Medical Degree study programmes in General Medicine and Dentistry cover studies in 49 theoretical department and clinics, where the clinical instructions are taken in the University Hospital. The clinical instruction for General Medicine students of Charles University also take place in the same hospital. The University Hospital is one of the most modern and largest hospitals in the Czech Republic which offers broad range of healthcare as well as medical research activities.
 

Hradec Kralove is a small city, 100 km east of Prague (population 100,000). It is a beautiful city with many parks and woodlands. The town has a large student population because it is home to five university faculties. It has a rich historical background with many quaint buildings and many well-known shopping, entertainment and fast-food outlets you would normally find in major cities of the world.

The city hosts many cultural events such as music and art festivals. It is also an important centre for sports and the local football, ice-hockey and basketball clubs participate in the top leagues. Hradec Kralove also offers excellent sports and leisure facilities and is close to skiing resorts.
